UPDATE: Two teens in hospital following fatal crash

Two teenagers were rushed to hospital after a fatal crash in Horsham this morning (Tuesday July 5).

Emergency services were called to a crash involving a taxi and a lorry in Comptons Lane, at the junction with Heron Way near Forest School, at about 10.45am.

Three fire crews were sent to the collision and cut a man free from the taxi.

Police said the man, in his 60s, died at the scene.

The Air Ambulance along with three ambulances, two paramedic cars and members of the Hazard Area Response Team also attended.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said two teenagers, who were in the taxi, were treated at the scene for chest injuries.

They were fully conscious and were taken as a priority to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for further checks, the spokesman added.

Police said a 34-year-old man from Crawley was arrested after providing a positive drugs test and has been bailed pending analysis.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on [email protected] quoting Operation Bridgetown.

Police closed the road between the Depot Road junction and the St Leonards Road junction. It is due to open later this afternoon.
