Travellers asked to move from Chichester street

A group of travellers in Stane Street have been served with a notice to move, the county council has confirmed.

Reports from residents on social media indicate three caravans or motorhomes appeared at the end of the road last weekend.

David Owgan said a nearby designated travellers’ site had three or four empty pitches available yesterday afternoon.

A spokesperson for West Sussex County Council said: “We have been made aware of a group of travellers in Stane Street, Chichester.

“The occupants have been served with appropriate notices and, upon expiry if occupants have not left, then we will pursue the matter through the courts.”
