Travellers at Glyne Gap: 'No-one wants to know'

EVENTS surrounding travellers on the Glyne Gap field have taken a down-turn this week, it has been claimed.

Representatives of the site owner have said the travellers are dumping large piles of rubbish and using the field as a toilet.

The travellers arrived early in the month and show no signs of moving on.

The number of caravans at the site has now increased to 14.

A spokesman for the field managers told the Observer neighbours are starting to complain about loud music at night and disagreed with statements by residents last week "that there has been no trouble."

He said: "If you look from the top of Glyne Gap hill you can see rubbish everywhere and they are using the field to go to the toilet. All day long my phone is ringing with people wanting to know what is going on and with residents complaining and saying more (of the travellers) have turned up in the last few days."

The owner of the field has employed solicitors to take legal action.

The spokesman added: "We spoke to a court and they don't want to know, we spoke to the police and they don't want to know. We even spoke to Hastings council but they said it was private land and had nothing to do with them.

"We keep trying different things but come up against a brick wall. We have had to cancel the boot sales. People call asking if they are on but we have to tell them they have all been cancelled."
