Treat for the taste buds at Crompton’s summer menu launch

Guests were greeted by a red carpet and welcome drinks, before being given the opportunity to sample some of the new flavours at the venue in the Bishopric.

Owner and manager Andrew Crompton explained that dishes would be smaller to encourage customers to share the food and enjoy several different flavours, in a similar manner to tapas.

He said: “With the new menu we plan to make it more all things to all people: whether you want to come for a snack, at any time of the day, or for a family meal.

“We are really an every day place. We are about people coming here together and having a good time.”

Crompton’s is now in its second year in Horsham town centre and staff are looking ahead to the summer months, with a barbecue and live music planned in the outside area on Sundays.

The food available at the menu launch included slow cooked pork belly, spicy fish cakes, lamb koftas, tandoori chicken, salt cod fritters, fried halloumi and char-grilled vegetables with taramasalata.

Mr Crompton said he hopes that by inviting local businesses to the menu launch, Crompton’s can generate a ‘buzz’ as they look to continue their initial success.

He added: “This evening is to throw it out there and to try and get a bit of a buzz that the menu is new but it is the same high quality of food.

“Crompton’s is a very friendly place and good for people of all ages and all walks of life.”

Mr Crompton particularly recommended the salt cod fritters, fried calamari and pork belly from the new menu - with the latter also being a favourite of the County Times.

The restaurant will also host a stall in Horsham market on Thursday June 27 and Saturday July 20, where there will be dishes to sample, special offers, and the chance to enter a prize draw to win a meal for two.
