Treat for theatre students

A CHOIR of 14 Stagecoach Theatre School students performed on stage with the professional Opera Company Ellen Kent/Opera and Ballet International last Sunday.

For one night only Tosca came to the White Rock Theatre and Stagecoach was asked to provide some talented singers and actors to take part.

The boys and girls, all aged between 10 and 14, spent weeks rehearsing for the big performance.

The children appeared in two scenes in act one, with one boy playing the part of the shepherd boy in Act three.

One of the choir, Hannah Williams, 14, is certainly no stranger to opera. Tosca was her fifth production for Ellen Kent. In fact she took part in Tosca when it came to the White Rock in 2003.

Hannah said: "I really enjoy taking part in these productions it's great fun and you learn a lot about professional theatre."

Ellen Kent has already asked Stagecoach to be involved with its forthcoming production of Carmen in September -so watch this space.
