Triathlon for kids staged in Lewes district

IF YOU’RE looking for something to occupy your child during those long summer holidays what about signing them up for a mini triathlon?

Wave Leisure, which operates leisure centres across Lewes district, is running a triathlon series for eight to 14-year-olds.

They will be taking place at Lewes Leisure Centre and Ringmer Swimming Pool, plus there will be a mini-aquathlon at Seaford Head Pool.

The first event is at Lewes Leisure Centre on Sunday June 19 with the other events coming up in July and August.

Triathlon is one of the fastest growing Olympic sports.

The emphasis of the Wave Leisure Series is on inclusion, no matter what ability each child has in the different disciplines.

The distances are very achievable and the environment is supportive.

Wave Leisure managing director Peter Crowley said: “We are focused on ensuring that participation in the grass roots of the sport are being nurtured, and that children have the opportunity to experience an Olympic sport in their own community.”
