Seventeen-year-old Jacob Sargeant died at the scene of the crash on the A259 between Friston and Exceat.

Scores of floral tributes were left on the road and have now been moved to the garden of his family’s home in Horsa Close. Banners in his memory have also been placed around Eastbourne and an online fundraising campaign called Jacobs World has already raised more than £11,000 for his family, mum Kirste, dad Ricky, and brothers and sister, Alfie, Ashton and Lilliana.

Organiser of the online fundraiser Jack Wood said Jacob, who would have turned 18 on Saturday June 6, had made his whole family very proud.

His many friends are planning a celebration of his life on what would have been his milestone birthday.
