TRICKSTER STRIKES - POLICE APPEAL

Police have issued an e-fit of a trickster who struck at Hailsham.

The con happened on Tuesday, January 9, at 10.15am.

A man knocked on the door of an elderly lady with severe disabilities in The Holt, Hailsham. T

He spoke with the victim's granddaughter and tricked his way into the address stating that her granddad owed him money for gardening work that he had done for the family recently.

The man stated that the victim owed him 350 but not wanting to upset her grandmother, the grand-daughter handed the trickster 100 cash of her own money. He was told to leave and it wasn't until afterwards that the victim realised that the man had stolen a further 580 cash from the victim when her back was turned.

The mansaid his name was "Billy" and is described as a white male aged 38-40, medium build, approx 6ft tall, clean shaven wearing a dark green wax jacket, dark blue jeans and a brown chequered granddad flat cap.

It is believed that the same male may have visited addresses in Eastbourne later that same day.
