Trolley brushed up for London parade

A TRADITIONAL produce trolley will parade through the streets of London after being lovingly restored by a Bexhill signwriter.

Lizzie Page took the trolley to Graeme James of Green Lane, Little Common, after seeing pictures of his work on his website. Resisting the tide of technology, Graeme uses traditional methods - brush and paintpot - to put lettering on anything from pub signs or narrowboats to drumkits and circus vehicles.

He said: "It's a traditional old vehicle that used to deliver veg around the narrow streets of Soho. I used to do these years ago in Bagshot for the local gentry."

Lizzie, who bought the trolley at Christmas, gave Graeme free licence on most of the work. In April she will harness it to her Section A Welsh Mountain pony, Crumble, and join the London Harness Horse Parade.

Graeme said he enjoyed: "that feeling of being master of what you are doing.

"You just get on with it and follow your ideas."
