Kieran Padgham, 21, of no fixed address, was arrested a week later, on Wednesday (June 8), and subsequently charged with a number of bike thefts in the area.

He was remanded in custody to appear before magistrates.

A spokesman for Horsham Police said: “If you see any suspicious activity around any bicycles and bike racks in the area please contact Sussex Police on 999 or if you have any further information regarding the thefts in the area please e-mail [email protected] or call 101.

“If you own a bicycle please remember to make a note of the make, model and serial number in case it is stolen. Taking a photograph of your bicycle will also help us to identify it if it is stolen and will also help for insurance purposes.”
