Two charged with child sex offences

A Bognor Regis man charged with a number of serious sex offences against teenage boys as part of a police swoop on a worldwide paedophile ring, has appeared before magistrates.

David Keen of Nelson Road, faces charges of engaging in sexual activities with boys aged under 15 and 13 and four charges for engaging in sexual activities.

He was also charged on three counts for making indecent movies and for distributing indecent movies.

John Churchley, 56, of Wick, Littlehampton appeared at Chichester Magistrates' Court on May 14 alongside Keen.

He faces six charges of engaging in penetrative sexual activities, two charges for making an indecent movie and one for possessing the indecent movie.

Churchley, the sole director of a local builders' merchants, and Keen, 27, have been remanded in custody until August 6.

The arrests of both men on May 13 followed Operation Algebra, a Scottish case where Lothian and Borders Police swooped on a large paedophile ring.

Hundreds of thousands of pornographic pictures of children including images of the rape of an 18-month-old boy were uncovered. The operation led to the conviction of eight men.
