Two great days at Dixter

As well as being able to pick up rare plants, it was perfect weather to enjoy autumn colours at the gardens.

Taking stalls at the event were specialist plant nurseries from Belgium and hte Netherlands as well as from across England and Ireland.

Every 30 minutes, over the weekend, a nurseryman, from the different suppliers, gave a talk on plants and growing.

Money raised from the event will be used to provide a bursary to help train a keen young gardener who then may follow in the foot-steps of gardening guru Christopher Lloyd, who established the famous gardens at Great Dixter.

Last year the event raised more than £1,000 and organisers expect this year’s event to top that figure.

Sunday saw a Dachshund Fun Day running along-side the plant fair.

It was held by the Southern Dachshund Association. Christopher Lloyd was Patron of the club until his death.
