Both motorcycles had been reported stolen during the previous night, one from Littlehampton and the other from Bognor.

PC Iain Lumbard, of the Sussex Road Policing Unit, based at Arundel, said; “The two bikes had been seen being ridden at speed together through the Ford and Climping areas and onto the A259 towards Littlehampton shortly before the collision.

“Police have been investigating a number of motorcycle thefts in the Arun area recently and we remind owners to take all reasonable security precautions to prevent them being stolen.

No arrests have been made at this stage but we will be interviewing both riders.”
