Two Littlehampton men charged in police drink-drive crackdown

POLICE have charged two men from Littlehampton with a number of offences as part of force’s latest Christmas crackdown on drink and drug-driving across the county.

Anthony Karboub, 35, was arrested at 12.30am yesterday (December 14) after a crash in Sea Lane, Ferring.

Karboub, of New Road, Littlehampton, was charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on December 30.

Dariusz Dziewa, 28, was arrested just hours later in a separate incident, at 8am, after officers stopped his vehicle on the A27 at Crossbush for having no MoT.

Dziewa, of Linden Road, Littlehampton, was charged with drink-driving and driving without an MoT. He was released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on December 31.

The news was announced this morning (Monday, December 15).

So far a total of 47 motorists have been charged with offences after they were arrested this month as part of the police clampdown.

For the first time, the December campaign is being run jointly by Sussex Police and Surrey Police alongside Sussex Safer Roads Partnership, Drive Smart in Surrey and the independent charity Crimestoppers.

As part of Operation Dragonfly - Sussex Police’s year-round strategy to remove drink and drug-drivers from the streets - roads policing unit officers are on dedicated patrols looking for offenders.

Teams will also respond to tip-offs from members of the public who see someone they know has been drinking getting into a car to drive.

The names of those charged are being proactively published by police.
