AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man was found dead in woodland near the railway in Pevensey.
The man, named by Sussex Police as Richard Carey, aged 25, of Elgar Way in Eastbourne, was discovered in the woods around 5.15pm on Tuesday, August 2.
Police also reported that the body of another man aged 23 was discovered at 6pm that day in a lake at Shinewater, Langey near Eastbourne. He has not been officially identified to date.
Inspector Charlie Connaughton, of Eastbourne Neighbourhood Response Team, said: “While the tragic deaths occurred during a similar period they are not being treated as suspicious and no-one is being sought in connection with these incidents.”
Enquiries into both deaths were continuing with coroner’s offices.
