Two new '˜exciting' play areas for children

Langley Green Unsupervised Play area and Lutyens Close Play area in Bewbush have joined the ranks of ‘exciting’ new play areas for children to visit, a council spokesman said.

In February 2016, children and residents in Langley Green were asked what they would like to see installed and were shown the the final design from play equipment specialists.

Cabinet member for Wellbeing, councillor Chris Mullins, said: “These are wonderful play areas that cater for all abilities and I am very pleased the council has been able to provide a range of exciting new equipment that can be used by children of all ages and abilities.”

A key highlight of the new play areas is its inclusivity for children of all abilities, which includes a wheelchair accessible roundabout and a wheelchair swing, the spokesman added.

Children also have the option to play on a climbing frame, swings and travellator.

In Lutyens Close, children from Waterfield Primary School had the chance to test out the new climbing frame, swings and play trail which was installed by Sutcliffe Play.

As part of the renovations to the area, grass and matting has been laid down to create a safer more suitable surface for children to play on.
