Two police officers hospitalised after Hailsham assault

Police were called to The George Hotel in George Street at 8.30pm to reports of a man causing a disturbance. When officers attended a man punched them both repeatedly while outside the hotel.

Two male officers were both taken to hospital to be treated for facial injuries. One officer was released but the other stayed in for observation overnight.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH and assault and has been bailed until January 24 while investigations continue.

Anyone who was outside the hotel and saw what happened is asked to contact police on [email protected] quoting serial 1292 of 09/01.
