COFFEE, CAKES AND CRAFTS: Come and start your Christmas Shopping and support St Wilfrid’s Hospice at the same time. Saturday September 24, 11am to 4pm. There will be a warm welcome for everyone plus coffee/tea and delicious homemade cakes and scones. Lots of crafts will be available to buy. These will include a range of unique, handmade fabric handbags and cushions, handmade cards for all occasions, individually made Christmas Crackers and gift bags, paintings, beautiful children’s knitwear, handmade and pre-loved jewellery, bird and insect houses/boxes and many small Christmas Gifts. Some craft materials and haberdashery will also be available. 20 percent of all sales plus the donations for coffee/tea and cakes/scones will go to the Hospice. Free entry but donations requested for coffee, tea and cakes, all of which will go to the Hospice.

FASHION SHOW AND SALE: High Street Brands at greatly reduced prices. Sizes 10 to 20. Sussex Horse Rescue Trust is hosting a Charity Fashion Sale at Uckfield Civic Centre from 1.30pm to 4pm on Saturday September 24. No ordering, buy on the day, cash or card. This promises to be a fun afternoon. The event begins with a live catwalk show followed by time for shopping. £4 in advance from Sew ’n’ Sew Haberdashery, Bell Walk, Uckfield; £4 in advance by post to Wendy Gundry 23 Southway, Burgess Hill, cheques payable to Sussex Horse Rescue Trust, please enclose a sae; £6 on the door, we are restricted on numbers so cannot guarantee space.

OPEN GARDEN: The Vachery Garden, Wych Cross, a hidden gem of Ashdown Forest is being part restored and will be open for charity on Tuesday from 10am to 4.30pm. It comprises a string of lakes, sluices and weirs with a Folly Bridge; a gorge of Cheddar Gorge limestone landscaped by Gavin Jones in 1925; and fine stands of rhododendrons and native and introduced trees. Guided tours at 10.30am and 2pm, starting from the Trees Car Park on A22. The circular walk is approx two hours, over steep and rugged terrain and will only take place weather permitting, please phone on the day by 9am for confirmation or check our website. Pre-booking for tours is essential, please phone 01342 823583. Admission £5, children free.
