Uckfield and District Writers’ Club appeal for appeal about lost books

A GROUP OF LOCAL writers is desperate to track down some books which were accidentally given to charity.

They point out the books would not be of any value to anyone else but have enormous importance and value to them.

A collection of books owned by the Uckfield and District Writers’ Club was mistakenly handed to the Uckfield Lions’ charity and put on sale in their shop at Bridge Cottage, Uckfield.

Club chairman Jenny Cobb asked: “Should anyone have acquired one of these books about the craft of writing, or containing an inscription to our club by an author, we would be tremendously grateful to retrieve them. They will either have the Club’s sticker on a frontispiece or the author’s endorsement. These books have been donated to us over twenty plus years by our now dead president, Michael Legat and several well-known authors who have dedicated a book to us. They are all irreplaceable.”
