Trees and hedges are grubbed up as work to develop the St Michael’s Convent site in Uckfield goes ahead.
Developers won consent to take down the historic buildings and construct 14 new homes on the site.
The proposal met with opposition when it was first put forward.
An original scheme to put up two blocks of 30 flats was abandoned after local people objected to overdevelopment and overlooking.
