Buxted Park Hotel was the setting for a 10th birthday party for staff, supporters and friends of the only children’s hospice in Sussex.
Uckfield mayor Cllr Ian Smith cut the birthday cake and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the 63 guests and Chestnut Tree Hospice Trustees chairman Guy Clinch provided an update on the hospice which cares for life-limited children and their families throughout East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire.
He thanked guests for their continuing support and highlighted how the service has grown over the past ten years.
Commmunity nurse Laura Vaughan-Field gave a moving presentation about her work in families’ homes, up to and after children pass away.
Community fundraiser Juliette MacPherson thanked guests. She said: “It’s great to be able to meet all our fantastic supporters and tell them more about what their fundraising efforts achieve but also great to meet new potential supporters and introduce them to the hospice. Special thanks go to speakers Guy, Linda and Laura, to Cllr Ian Smith and also to Cynthia Ogden-Stewart who baked the delicious birthday cake.”
