FRANCESCA Rawlins, formerly from Uckfield, won a national rowing competition last weekend. Francesca, 25, whose parents live in Brown’s Lane, won the lightweight single skulls and also competed in the quad skulls representing England in the Home National Rowing Championship in Cardiff Bay. She’s a former Buxted Primary and Uckfield Community Technology College pupil and began rowing at Cambridge University when she captained the Women’s Lightweight Eight to win against Oxford in 2008.

She had been approached by England scouts after collecting a bronze medal for lightweight single skulls at the National Rowing Championships held in Nottingham this month.
