Sussex’s only children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House, was presented with a cheque for £500 by Uckfield Rugby FF (Founding Fathers) Club.

The presentation took place at Chestnut Tree House’s new shabby-chic charity shop in Uckfield following a series of fundraising events, including a barn dance and barbecue.

Chestnut Tree House was chosen as Uckfield Rugby FF Club’s charity of the year after committee member Brian Muddle’s partner, Jane, put the charity forward for consideration at an annual meeting.

The cheque was received by Linda Perry, Director of Children’s Services and Guy Clinch, Chairman of Trustees, of Chestnut Tree House.

Guy said: “We were overwhelmed when we were informed how much Uckfield Rugby FF Club had raised for the charity so it was my pleasure to come to Uckfield and receive the cheque on behalf of Chestnut Tree House.

“We’ll be putting the money towards buying new slings for the hoists in the hospice and the portable hoist used by our Community Team.”
