DETAILS of Uckfield’s formal tie-in with the French town of Arques-La-Bataille were agreed at the town’s recent Twinning Association meeting.
Over the weekend of June 11-12 the twinning charter will be signed at the Civic Centre.
About 30 visitors from Arques are expected to come along and would-be host families will also be welcomed.
Twenty youngsters from both towns will take part in an international youth camp with a day of adventure at Blacklands Farm.
This summer’s camp will take place in Sweden in early August.
Later that month Arques have organised an Anglo-French youth project with a gastronomic theme – ‘Le Buffet de l’Europe’.
Uckfield Twinning Association’s Arques visit will take place on August Bank Holiday weekend when the signing ceremony will be reciprocated.
Links are being maintained with German twin town Quickborn and a group will visit the town for the annual Eulenfest in September.
