BEAUCHAMPS OPEN GARDEN: After several weeks of chilly weather, we were extremely fortunate to be blessed yet again with glorious sunshine, which rewarded our visitors with views of our garden at its best, and perfect conditions for walking around, and taking time to enjoy a leisurely cup of tea and slice of cake (deliciously provided by the Friends of St Mary's). Matty and I are very grateful to them, to our other helpers and to all of you who came along, some 125 in total, raising (together with the sale of plants) over £1000, a quarter of it for the Friends, the rest for the national medical charities supported every year by the National Gardens Scheme.

GARDEN PARTY: Tomorrow (Saturday) between 10am and noon at Hillside (at the top of Brede Hill) there will be homemade scones with strawberries and cream, homemade cakes for sale and a bric-a-brac table. This garden party, by kind invitation of Dr John Crook, has been arranged as a fundraiser by the Friends of St George’s.

CHURCH SERVICES: In St Mary’s Church this Sunday there will be a service of Holy Communion at 8am, and the monthly Family Service for All at 11.15am, followed by refreshments in the church.

SUMMER LUNCH: Next Thursday, June 16, at 1pm in St Mary’s Community Hall, members of the Brede and Udimore Overseas Group invite you to a two-course lunch, in aid of the four charities supported by the Group. Tickets cost £9.50 and can be booked by ringing Liz Turgoose (01424 882657) or Judy Edwards (01424 882222).

A MIDSOMER MURDER: Tickets are still available for this event, to be held on Saturday evening, June 25, at the Hall (outside, weather permitting), starting at 7pm. To book, please contact Liz Turgoose (01424 882657) or Gillian Rothery (01424 882774): £7.50 a ticket, bring your own picnic and drink. Judging by their last visit to Udimore, this talented local group should provide an intriguing and enjoyable performance.
