AN EVENING OF MUSIC: This concert in St Mary's Church tomorrow (Saturday) evening promises to be another very enjoyable occasion arranged by the Friends of St Mary's. Taking part in an interesting and varied programme will be Duncan Reid (organ), Bradley and Elizabeth Curtis (violin, '˜cello and piano), Grace Constable (soprano) and Gary Marriott (tenor). Included in the ticket price of £10 will be a drink and a selection of canapés. If you're hoping to come but don't yet have tickets, it would be very helpful to the organizers if you would please ring either Sue Rowan (01424 882681) or Liz Turgoose (01424 882657) to let them know, as soon as possible.

CHURCH SERVICE: At the 9.30am service in St Mary’s this Sunday we shall be celebrating Harvest Festival. During the service there will also be a dedication of our new hymn books, and a re-dedication of the Aumbrey, in the Sanctuary, where the Reserved Sacrament is to be kept in future.

SOUP AND SCRABBLE: Arranged by the Four Charities, there will be another session of this popular and sociable lunchtime event, in the Hall next Thursday, October 11. It will start at noon, when hot soup will be served, followed by an hour’s friendly and relaxed Scrabble, then followed by tea and biscuits. All for the modest price of £5. If you can come, it would be helpful if you could let Sue Lee know (01424 883122) by Wednesday evening.

No tickets, but if you’re hoping to come please let Liz Turgoose know (01424 882657) by Tuesday, or midday Wednesday at the very latest, so that she can add your name(s) to the list - and make catering arrangements.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING: Now that we’re having our own MCM once again, do make a point of looking in at the Hall the following morning, Saturday, October 13 (with some cash to spend, in aid of this excellent cause) any time between 10am and noon. Besides refreshments, there will be things to buy, and a raffle. More details in this column next week.
