SPONSORED RUN: Matt Burrows tells me that several people who read the piece about his “Marathon plus” run on page 6 of last week’s Rye Observer have since then generously added to his sponsorship fund. By Monday evening it had just passed the £2,000 mark! Matt would gratefully welcome any further contributions anyone would like to make towards these four highly deserving overseas charities, Sightsavers, Deaf in Tanzania, the Papua New Guinea Church Partnership and the Rafiki Orphanage in Kenya. Cheques should be made out to Brede and Udimore Overseas Group and sent to him at Mill House, Udimore, Rye, TN31 6AY.

CHURCH SERVICES IN ST MARY’S: This Sunday the 9.30am Sung Family Eucharist will be followed by refreshments in the Hall (if it’s free). The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols (for both parishes) will be at 6pm.

On Thursday evening (Christmas Eve) there will be a Carol and Crib Service at 5pm and Midnight Mass starting at 11.30pm.

On Christmas Day Family Eucharist will be at 11.15am.

MOBILE LIBRARY: Between 11.15 and 11.45am on Wednesday the library will be paying its 3-weekly visit to the Hall. This is a much-valued asset, which deserves our support if we want to go on enjoying it, before it’s threatened by the next round of funding cuts.
