Udimore

POETRY & PROSE EVENING: This annual event, the fifth in the series, went, if possible, even better than in the past four years. The usual mix of humour and seriousness, expertly edited and presented by Gary Marriott, gave us all plenty to be entertained and moved by in turns. In creating and serving the supper our brilliant chefs excelled themselves: an appetising array of delicious puds, contributed by Brede, was preceded by Udimore’s excellent casseroles, with all the trimmings. I’m bound to say that if you weren’t there (and a few more could have been fitted in) you missed a most enjoyable and really special occasion, for which all those present owe a debt of gratitude to the organizers and their team of helpers. The event raised £300 for each of our two churches.

LENT LUNCHES: If you read this in time, you’re reminded that there will be a simple bread and cheese lunch between noon and 1.30pm today (Friday) at Brede and Udimore Rectory, next to Brede Church. Next Wednesday, March 11, there will be another similar lunch in St Mary’s Community Hall. There will be no charge for these lunches, but donations for the Brede and Udimore Overseas Group will be gratefully received.

CHURCH SERVICE: The service in St Mary’s at 11.15am this Sunday will be the monthly Family Service for All, followed by refreshments in the Hall.

YOGA CLASSES: a new series of Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes is due to start in the Hall on Monday mornings, 9.30 till 10.45am, beginning on Monday week, March 16. These classes will be run by Lolly Patenall, who describes this form of Yoga as “suitable for everyone, though it can be challenging. It is flowing and dynamic, but also grounding.” She always encourages people to practice at their own pace. For more details, she may be contacted on 07595 831048, or www.fireflypractice.uk
