Udimore

Richard Holmes, Beauchamps

In its last fixture of the season, Udimore Cricket Club is at home tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon, playing Hellingly 3rd XI, at the slightly earlier start time of 12.30pm. Till last week’s game against Chiddingly 2nd XI, Udimore was lying a very close second in Division Seven, so a win on Saturday could possibly bring the club back to the top of the division, as it was for a while at the start of the season. The club’s anyway likely to be promoted to Division Six next year. Your support will, as always, be greatly appreciated - as has been Richard Merricks’ generosity in continuing to provide the club with an excellent ground for its home games.

Holy Communion will be celebrated in St Mary’s Church at 8am on Sunday. At 11.15am there will be the monthly Family Service for All, followed by a social get-together and refreshments. The monthly Messy Church will be in the Community Hall at 4pm on Tuesday (September 10).

The Patient Participation Groups of Rye Medical Centre and the Ferry Road Surgery are running what promises to be a most interesting and informative joint event at 6.30pm on Wednesday (September 11) in the Rye Community Primary School. Its subject will be “Changes to your local Health Services”. This will be your chance to find out how you will be affected by recent changes in the National Health Service, and by recent developments at Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital. All welcome, refreshments provided, parking via the school entrance in Love Lane.

Only three weeks now till the annual big Macmillan Coffee Morning, on Friday September 27! Gill Rothery has asked me to remind you that home-made jams and chutneys, home-baked cakes, scones and biscuits, home-made crafts of all sorts and the home-grown produce of your gardens will all be welcome. So please get busy now!
