Udimore

Richard Holmes, Beauchamps

The Royal Baby Barn Dance in St Mary’s Community Hall last Saturday evening went very well. Some fifty people were there to enjoy some spirited dancing to the lively music of the Flat Cat Band, well directed by their expert caller. Frank Langrish battled the very windy conditions, ably assisted by Celia, to produce a great barbecue. The organizers would also like to thank the ladies who donated puds (up to the exceptional standard Udimore now has a reputation for), and the kind gifts of raffle prizes, and donations from some who couldn’t be there on the night. The baby photo competition was won by a guest: if you weren’t there, you missed seeing quite a few of the Haines family in their baby finest, and a regal photo of Fr Martin in his Christening gown. This was a fundraising event towards the running costs of the hall, results of which I hope to include in this column next week.
