Udimore

Richard Holmes, Beauchamps

Theresa Mizen’s funeral service will be in St George’s Church, Brede (not St Mary’s Udimore, as I reported last week). It will be at noon on Friday March 1, followed by her burial in Udimore churchyard.

Next Saturday (March 23) there will be two events in St Mary’s Community Hall:

1) At 2.30pm the Udimore Gardeners cordially invite you to join them at an open meeting, at which local resident Doug Rigby will give a talk about his unique style of gardening - with pigs. Afterwards tea and home-made cake will be served. A full programme of future events will be sent out soon: if you would like your name to be added to the distribution list, please send an email to [email protected] .

2) At the third annual Brede and Udimore Prose and Poetry Evening there will be a two-course home-cooked meal, and a wide selection of readings, to suit all tastes - if you would like to contribute one you have chosen and prepared, please bring it along with you. For further details, please ring either Robert Wheeler (01707 222009) or Gary Marriott (01424 882412). All funds raised will be shared between the two parish churches.

Beryl Jenkins, President of Brede Women’s Institute, has asked me to include the following invitation:

“In Brede WI we already have a few members who live in Udimore, but there might be more ladies who would like to join us, to sample one of our meetings! You would have the opportunity to hear an interesting speaker and enjoy the fellowship of our members. We are a friendly group, and you would be made very welcome. Our meetings take place on the second Wednesday of each month, at 2pm in Brede Village Hall. If you would like to hear more, please call Ann Elam (01797 222604) or Beryl Jenkins (01424 883475).”
