Udimore village voice

Tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) the enterprising team at the King’s Head is laying on a Charity Fun Afternoon, rather along the lines of the village fete we used to have on the cricket field every summer.

Starting at 2pm, there will be a variety of stalls and sideshows, including coconut shy, barbecue, bouncy castle, splat the rat, bric-a-brac and books for sale, vintage bikes, tombola and raffle with fantastic prizes. There will be a children’s fancy dress competition (with Olympic theme), to be judged at about 3pm, followed by a tug-of-war at 3.30pm. Live music from 5pm onwards. All proceeds will be divided between St Michael’s Hospice and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Do make a point of coming along, if you possibly can.

My apologies to anyone I misled into turning up for Messy Church on Tuesday afternoon. I hadn’t heard that there’s a different date, time and venue this month: this Wednesday (August 15) at 2pm in the car park of St Thomas’ Church, Camber, for sandcastles and games on the beach. Families and children with grandparents will be welcome. Please bring along contributions for a shared picnic in the Church Hall at about 3.30pm.
