Udimore village voice

The 11.15am service in St Mary’s this Sunday is the monthly Family Service for All, to be followed as usual by refreshments and a chance to catch up with all the latest news.

Tickets for the Brede and Udimore Overseas Group annual spring lunch next Thursday, May 10, have been selling well, but at the time of writing there were still a few left. It’s at 12.30pm in St Mary’s Community Hall and excellent value at £10 for a two-course lunch, with a raffle and a talk by a visiting speaker on Papua New Guinea. If you’re interested, please ring Liz Turgoose (01424 882657) or Judy Edwards (01424 882222): you may be lucky!

Every household in Udimore should have received by now full details of our celebrations for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee on Sunday June 3. Please do make a note in your diaries (if you haven’t already) of important times during the day: 2.30pm for the village photo (to be taken not a minute later than 2.45pm), 3pm for the games for children (and young at heart) and tea party, and 6.30pm for the celebration supper - numbers at which will clearly be limited by the size of the Hall, so do make your bookings soon by ringing either Glenda (01797 226100) or Nadia (01424 882948).

Also, please note that St Mary’s Church will be adorned with flowers fit for royalty throughout that weekend and will also feature an exhibition of historic photographs, showing Udimore in 1952 and earlier. If you have any photos which you would be prepared to lend for this exhibition (where their security will be guaranteed) please ring Bob Turgoose (01424 882657).
