Umissable Prom Night set to raisethe roof at Alexandra Park again

The event provides a rousing opener to the Hastings Beer and Music Festival.

Prom-goers can expect a programme bursting with great music and song.

Conductor Roger Wilcock and Hastings BIG Choir host the event as usual, providing a celebration of Queen, country and community, which everyone can enjoy and sing along with gusto.

The BIG Choir gave the opening performance to the refurbished pier in May with It Must be Love - its tribute to Madness favourite , its nod to James Bond and lashings of other music from stage and screen.

After last year’s success, accompaniment is once again provided by the 30 piece Medway Championship Brass Band who will regale Promenaders with The Dambusters March, 1812 Overture and more.

This year the BIG Choir’s chosen charity, in addition to those already supported by Hastings and St Leonards Round Table, is Hastings and St Leonards Dementia Action Alliance, and there will be further fund-raising concerts at St Thomas of Canterbury Church and Battle Emmanuel Centre during July.

Roger Wilcock commented: “This is the seventh year of Prom Night and the choir, which meets for only three months of the year, is working hard to provide a varied and lively programme.

“It is great to be able to greet the 150 singers with more challenging music year on year and to see the pleasure and satisfaction they get from being able to share the experience of making and mastering music together.”

Gates open for Prom Night at 6pm on June 30 and if you are a regular Promenader, you will know that picnics and blankets are the order of the day.

You will find a variety of street-food vendors on site, as well as the famous ‘long bar’ with 120 local and regional ales, lagers and ciders. There is also Pimms and wine.

Tickets are already available and can be bought at Priory Meadow Information Desk, Hastings Information Centre and Hastings Windows, as well as at www.hbmf.co.uk/box-office.
