An unconscious man found on Tide Mills beach yesterday afternoon (Saturday, June 4) was taken to hospital by paramedics.
The man, believed to be in his late 30s, was found on the beach by a passerby who called ambulance crews.
Members of Newhaven Coastguard were called out to help locate the casualty.
A spokesman for Newhaven Coastguard said, “We received a request for from Sussex Ambulance to help locate a casualty on the beach. The first informant was not local so only gave vague directions.
“A member of public flagged us down and clarified the location as Tide Mills beach. On the way along the beach we collected a paramedic and quickly located the casualty who was unconscious but breathing.
“The first informant told us numerous people had walked past the casualty with out checking them or reporting them to the emergency services.
“Coastguards assisted carrying the casualty to the ambulance.”
The man was taken to hospital for further treatment.
