UNDER-AGE DRINKS SWOOP

PLAIN CLOTHES police officers swooped on five pubs in the Crowborough and Uckfield areas last Friday evening (March 31) in an attempt to find out if any were selling alcohol to under-age drinkers.

Four were in the clear but in one an underage youth was served.

As a result the landlord had to pay an 80 fixed penalty notice.

Police neighbourhood specialist PC Paul Stephens said: 'I am pleased with the pubs that refused to serve the youth that was under 18 and am confident that the one that did serve will put in place the appropriate training to ensure that this does not re-occur.'
