A FASCINATING exhibition of material from the archives of East Dean and Friston Local History Group will be displayed for the public to enjoy this Sunday, July 8.

Called ‘Photographic Memories’ the exhibition takes place from 10.30am to 4.30pm in the large village hall at Village Green Lane, East Dean.

The Eastbourne & District Metal Detecting Club will display some of local finds.

Lloyd Brunt, joint secretary of the history group, said: “The exhibition will include hundreds of local photographs, maps, old directories and other artefacts, including pieces of Iron Age and Roman pottery found in the villages.

“Two well-known local historians, John Surtees and Kevin Gordon, will be there most of the day to answer questions and sign copies of their books.

“There will be a sales table where the history group’s publications and raffle tickets can be bought.”

The exhibition is open to people of all ages at a charge of £3 (group members free).

Refreshments and Ploughman’s Lunches will be available to buy on the day.
