UPDATE: 70-year-old hospitalised after Rye bike crash

A biker in his 70s was taken to hospital following a crash on the A259 New Winchelsea Road in Rye today (Tuesday, October 20).

The man was involved in a crash at the junction with Wish Street at around 1.30pm.

He injured his arm in the crash and suffered from neck and leg pain.

South East Coast Ambulance Service took him to the Conquest Hospital.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident to make the area safe after oil was spilt from the crash.

Crews used an environmental pack to clear it up.

The road is now open after the earlier closure.
