UPDATE: A285 now open again following serious crash

THE A285 has now been reopened following a serious crash on the notorious stretch of road through Upwaltham earlier today (Monday, February 15).

A police spokesman said there had been a single vehicle crash which was believed to have occurred during the early hours of today.

The circumstances are still being investigated.

The 12 mile stretch of road between Chichester and Petworth which includes the Upwaltham section was named the most dangerous road in the UK in a report published by the Road Safety Foundation in November 2014.
