UPDATE: Body found in burning car on Climping beach

POLICE forensic teams have been inspecting a car found in flames and with a body inside, in Climping today (Thursday, March 3).

Fire crews were called to the beach at 5.25am, after neighbours reported seeing flames and hearing an explosion, and found the man, believed to be in his 40s, inside.

Detective Inspector Trevor Bates said: “The death is being treated as unexplained at this stage.”

Police are currently getting ready to remove the car, thought to be a Rover, and a police cordon, which has been in place at Baliffscourt Hotel on Climping Street since about 8.30am, is expected to be lifted in the next hour.
