UPDATE: Chip fat oil spill behind disruption on A24 in Washington

Major disruption is being reported on the A24 in Washington due to a spillage of what is believed to be chip fat oil this afternoon (June 24).

Sussex West Road Policing Unit sent a message on Twitter saying the road is ‘contaminated with what appears to be used chip fat oil’.

The A24 is partially blocked with severe delays and queuing traffic at the A283 The Pike junction due to the spillage

Police are currently directing traffic.

There is congestion reported to the Findon Roundabout and on the A283 Steyning Bypass to the B2135 Horsham Road junction.
