An investigation is still ongoing into a serious house fire which broke out on Sunday night (January 4) in Crowborough.
The fire investigation got underway yesterday morning and initial reports indicate the cause to be accidental.
Investigators said the fire started in the hallway of the house in Rannoch Road and spread very quickly to the roof, severely damaging the whole property.
Eight crews were mobilised to a semi-detached house at 9.52pm and the incident was still on-going yesterday morning.
The aerial ladder platform from Brighton was in attendance so that the Incident Commander and Building Control Officer could make an assessment of the safety of the structure.
Additional water was brought to the scene for damping down and came from the Water Carrier based at Uckfield.
Crews were unable to fully investigate due to the building being deemed unsafe, as a result of fire damage, with building control in attendance.
Two dogs believed to have resided at the property are currently unaccounted for.
The fire investigation continues.
