UPDATE: Cyclist in life-threatening condition in hospital after crash in Ockley

A cyclist was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision involving a van in Ockley yesterday (Sunday April 3).

Weare Street was closed in both directions following the crash between the cyclist and silver Toyota DYNA dropside van shortly after 10am.

The cyclist, a 57-year-old man, suffered serious and potentially life-threatening injuries, a spokesperson for Surrey Police said.

He was flown to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

The area between the B2126 Cole’s Lane junction and the A29 Bognor Road junction was shut to allow the air ambulance to land.

The road was fully reopened shortly before 3pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
