UPDATE: ‘Deliberate’ blaze destroys Littlehampton building

A deliberate blaze completely destroyed a portable building in Littlehampton.

Dozens of firefighters were called to Southfields Road after a building was deliberately set alight, according to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews from Littlehampton, Worthing and Arundel were called to the blaze which destroyed the portable building on Monday (November 16).

Worthing fire station commander Roy Barraclough said crews managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service added: “We were called at 2.19pm to reports of a portable cabin well alight.

“The building was five metres by two metres and crews used breathing apparatus, one jet and two hose reels.

“There were no reports of any injuries and all persons were accounted for.”

Firefighters got the fire under control and made the scene safe shortly after 3pm.
