UPDATE: Door-to-door inquires in Ford after victim threatened by gunman

POLICE officers have been conducting door-to-door inquires in Ford after a gunman threatened a man during an attempted burglary.

Officers were called at 11.35am today (Wednesday, June 18) after the victim fled from his home in Ford Lane and raised the alarm.

The victim had suffered a cut to the head when he was attacked by a burglar on his doorstep, who took money from him.

The shocked victim has now been taken to hospital for treatment, police have said.

Chief Inspector Chris Ball said: “We have armed officers in the area searching for the attacker in and around Ford Lane.”

The suspect is described as black, thin, 5ft 11ins and in his mid 20s.

He is clean shaven, has short hair and was wearing a brown suit with a green shirt underneath.

Chief Inspector Ball added: “If you see someone who fits that description, do not approach him but instead call 999 immediately.”
