UPDATE: Early morning crash injures two near Hurst Green

The A229 near Hurst Green was closed after a crash which injured two people this morning (Monday, July 11).

Shortly before 2am, police were called to the A229 Merriments Lane, just east of the A21 London Road, where a car had crashed into a pole carrying power cables.

The woman driver sustained cuts to her face and her passenger, a 60-year-old man, suffered chest, facial and rib injuries.

Neither were believed to have been seriously injured but one was taken to the Conquest Hospital for further treatment.

The road was closed northbound between the A21 Coopers Corner and Merriments Lane while fallen cables were made safe and the crashed vehicle was recovered.

Road users have been told to expect delays.
