UPDATE: Early morning post box crash in Westfield

A car crashed into a fire hydrant and a post box in Westfield in the small hours of this morning (Monday, July 11).

Emergency services were called to the A28Main Road following reports of a crash at around 4.10am.

A white Vauxhall Corsa had left the road and crashed into the fire hydrant and post box near Crowham Lodge but the male driver was unhurt.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crews from Hastings were called after fears the car was on fire but air bag dust was mistaken for smoke.

No further action was required by firefighters.

The vehicle was recovered at 6.15am.
