UPDATE: First female council chief executive for Crawley '˜thrilled'

Lee Harris has left for West Sussex County Council, with Natalie Brahma-Pearl set to replace him in early June on a salary of £114,508 a year.

Her appointment is set to be confirmed by councillors at a meeting next Wednesday (March 22) after the Appointments and Investigating Committee agreed unanimously to nominate her for the council’s top post.

Ms Brahma-Pearl, who is currently director of community services at Horsham District Council, said: “I am thrilled and honoured to have been offered the role of chief executive at Crawley Borough Council.

“I am passionate about improving public services, and this is therefore a really exciting opportunity for me to build on Crawley’s excellent reputation.

“I am very much looking forward to working with councillors, staff and partners to take the many great opportunities forward for the town.

“I am confident that, with Crawley’s first class record for service delivery, innovation and regeneration, we will collectively achieve the ambitions for the borough.”

Councillor Peter Lamb, leader of Crawley Borough Council, said: “We’re delighted to be recommending Natalie as our new Chief Executive to next week’s Full Council meeting.

“Crawley is still a young town and we have a great future ahead of us. I’m confident Natalie has the experience and enthusiasm to help deliver that future.”

A total of 15 applications for the job were received.
