UPDATE: Fundraising page set up to give crash victim '˜send off he deserves'

Peter Etherington died after a Citroen C4 and a Volvo tipper truck collided in Comptons Lane, at the junction with Heron Way, on Tuesday July 5, police said.

The 68-year-old, from Crawley, who was driving the Citroen, became trapped in his vehicle and was cut free by firefighters.

Police said he died at the scene.

It is believed Mr Etherington suffered a medical episode at the wheel moments before the crash.

A JustGiving page has been set up by his employer’s AAA2B to help pay for the funeral.

A spokesman for the firm said: “To the company he was like family.

“It is important to us, we want to give him a nice send off. He deserves it as he was such a decent man.

“This is giving something back as he gave so much to the company.”

The spokesman added AAA2B also wanted to thank the Horsham Facebook page for its help.

A 34-year-old from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled drug as part of a routine check at the scene. He has been released on bail until August 28.
