UPDATE: Horsham bank to remain closed after attempted robbery

HSBC bank in Horsham town centre will remain closed for the ‘rest of the day’ (December 9) the company has confirmed after an attempted robbery this morning.

A spokesperson for HSBC said: “We can confirm there was an attempted robbery on the HSBC branch in Horsham earlier today.

“The branch will be closed for the rest of the day.”

Police were called the incident earlier this morning.

A representative from Sussex Police said: “Just before 11.50am on Tuesday (December 9) an unsuccessful robbery attempt was made by a man who demanded cash at the HSBC Bank, West Street, Horsham.

“He ran off empty-handed. No weapon was seen, no shots were fired and nobody was hurt. Police, including armed officers, have searched the area but there is no current evidence that the public are at risk.”
